Mississippi agencies say a traffic stop on an 18-wheeler on Interstate 20 in Rankin County led to the seizure of more than a ton of drugs and the arrest of two truck drivers. CDL Life reported on Nov. 3, 2026, that the stop took place on Oct. 29. The two men have been charged. They have not been convicted, and they are presumed innocent unless proven otherwise.

What the agencies reported

According to CDL Life, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MSDPS), the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the Rankin County Sheriff's Department and the Madison Police Department partnered in what they called a "coordinated law enforcement operation" around a traffic stop on an 18-wheeler traveling on I-20. Officials say they seized 204 pounds of cocaine and 1,959 pounds of marijuana. Added together, that is about 2,163 pounds, which CDL Life's headline rounds to 2,100.

Two co-drivers, a 36-year-old from Lawrenceville, Georgia, and a 42-year-old from Clarkston, Georgia, were arrested, CDL Life reports. Big Rig Daily is not naming them in this article. They face charges of aggravated trafficking of cocaine and trafficking of marijuana.

What officials said

MSDPS Commissioner Bo Lucky said the seizure shows "the impact of strong partnerships between local and state law enforcement agencies." He added: "By working together, we are able to disrupt the transportation of dangerous drugs and prevent these substances from reaching our streets and communities."

The Rankin County sheriff said his department is committed to cooperating with its partners "to reduce the availability of drugs, not only in Rankin County but in the Metro Area and the State of Mississippi."

What is not known

The CDL Life report does not say what prompted the stop, who owned or shipped the load, whether the truck was carrying freight, which carrier operated the truck or what the next court dates are. Big Rig Daily has no information beyond what the agencies released and does not draw conclusions about the drivers or the companies involved.
