A semi rolled onto its side and blocked westbound Interstate 90 in eastern Pennington County, South Dakota, on Nov. 3, 2026, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Pennington County Sheriff's Office as reported by KOTA Radio and KBHB. No serious injuries were reported.

What was reported

The agencies say the semi rolled onto its driver's side near mile marker 116, outside Wall, and blocked the entire westbound lane of traffic. Because of the blockage, westbound motorists were diverted off the interstate at mile marker 121 onto Big Foot Road while crews worked to clear the scene. Eastbound traffic was not affected.

Cleanup took several hours. A towing company was brought in to remove the truck and trailer from the roadway, KOTA Radio reports. The Highway Patrol reported no serious injuries, and the crash is under investigation.

What is not known

The reports do not say what caused the rollover, whether the truck was loaded, who was driving or which company operated the truck. They do not say whether anyone had minor injuries or when the westbound lane reopened. Big Rig Daily is not guessing at any of it.

Planning for detours

Truckers heading west on I-90 across South Dakota can check South Dakota's 511 service or a traffic service for current conditions. This is a general suggestion and not something the reports say.
