The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has released the dates for its 2027 commercial vehicle inspection and enforcement campaigns, CDL Life reported on Nov. 3, 2026. The biggest change for truckers is that Brake Safety Week is moving from late summer to April.

The 2027 calendar

What the dates mean for planning

Since Brake Safety Week will land in April, shops and drivers who time brake service to the old late-summer schedule may want to look at their maintenance calendars. This is a general suggestion and not something CVSA or CDL Life says. The sources do not list the focus areas of the 2027 Roadcheck, which CVSA usually announces separately, and Big Rig Daily has not seen them.

Brake problems are also a common roadside concern throughout the year. For examples, see Big Rig Daily's reports on an Iowa semi stopped with overheated brake drums and a California reminder that a cracked brake drum can put a truck out of service. For a full walk-around routine, see our pre-trip inspection checklist.

Where the dates come from

CDL Life reports the dates as released by CVSA, and refers readers to the 2026 schedule on CVSA's site. Dates for campaigns can change, so check CVSA's own calendar before making firm plans.
