Diesel prices fell for the week, according to GasBuddy's weekly survey. The national average price of diesel declined 5.9 cents in the week ending Nov. 2, 2026, to $6.281 per gallon, GasBuddy reported. The company's report said gasoline fell 17.1 cents to $4.12 a gallon over the same week. This report is a weekly snapshot and will be out of date once GasBuddy publishes its next survey.

Diesel price spread

GasBuddy says the most common price for diesel nationally was $5.99 a gallon and the median was $6.19. The most expensive 10% of stations charged $6.96 or more, and the least expensive 10% charged $5.45 or less.

The report's lowest state averages for diesel were:

The highest were California at $8.30, Washington at $7.22 and Hawaii at $7.18.

Several states saw large weekly drops in the average price of diesel: Colorado fell 25.5 cents, Florida 16.7 cents, Michigan 15.4 cents, Hawaii 12.3 cents and California 11.4 cents.

Oil and inventories

GasBuddy says West Texas Intermediate crude closed Sunday at $102.15 a barrel and Brent at $111.52. Early Monday, WTI was at $99.35 and Brent at $108.40. The report adds that U.S. Energy Information Administration data show distillate inventories about 10% below the five-year average and refinery utilization at 92.8%.

What the analyst said

Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy's head of petroleum analysis, said in the report that "volatility could return quickly after the election." He said that whether new attacks occur or a truce takes hold around the Strait of Hormuz, along with continued Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries, "will likely dictate where prices head as we move closer to the holidays." He attributed the latest relief to refinery maintenance wrapping up and seasonal demand fading with cooler weather.

Comparing the numbers

GasBuddy's figure measures pump prices reported by stations in its survey. It is a different measure and a different week from the federal government's weekly diesel figure, which Big Rig Daily covered earlier as $6.352 in the Energy Information Administration's figure for Oct. 26. The two numbers should not be compared as if they described the same moment. Another report looks at how wholesale diesel swung 80 cents.
