Three recalls announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) now cover a combined 34,014 trucks and trailers, according to The Trucker. The defects involve fuel hoses, trailer landing gear and wheel bearing lubricant. Big Rig Daily covered the individual recalls earlier this week; this report puts the three together.

PACCAR: 26,729 trucks

PACCAR is recalling certain Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks:

The remote fuel filter hoses may separate from the fitting, which can cause a fuel leak and an engine stall. Dealers will replace the hoses at no charge, and owner letters will be mailed beginning Dec. 20. Owners may call Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220 or Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888. Big Rig Daily's earlier report is here.

Great Dane: 6,810 trailers

Great Dane is recalling certain 2027 Champion and Everest van trailers. The landing gear k-brace welds may fail, which could cause the landing gear to collapse. Great Dane will inspect the trailers and replace the k-brace as necessary, at no charge. Owner letters are expected on Dec. 22, and owners may call Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493.

Land Line adds that only about 10% of the trailers and landing gear assemblies in the recall population are estimated to have the defect, and that no warranty claims or injuries related to it have been reported. Land Line also describes a separate Great Dane recall of nearly 1,000 landing gear assemblies, with letters due Dec. 18. Land Line's count of nearly 7,000 trailers is rounded; The Trucker gives 6,810. More in the earlier Great Dane report.

Wabash: 475 trailers

Wabash is recalling certain 2027 van trailers that may have incorrect wheel bearing lubricant, which can cause the wheel end to seize and the wheel to lock up. Dealers will inspect the trailers and replace the lubricant as necessary, at no charge. Owner letters are expected Nov. 25, and owners may call Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404. Land Line says most of the trailers in this recall are expected to have the defect and that Wabash has not received reports of incidents or injuries. See the earlier Wabash report.

Adding it up

The three totals, 26,729 for PACCAR, 6,810 for Great Dane and 475 for Wabash, add up to the 34,014 units The Trucker reports.
