A semi driver was taken to a hospital after his truck left northbound Interstate 75 in Marion County, Florida, early on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers say the crash happened just before 1 a.m. near mile marker 356 in bad weather, according to WCJB. The lane closures described below were current only when WCJB published its report and may have ended.

What troopers said

According to FHP, the man was traveling northbound on I-75 near mile marker 356 during what the station described as inclement weather. The driver lost control of the semi, ran off the roadway onto the shoulder and went into a dirt embankment in a construction area.

The man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At the time of the WCJB report, the center and right lanes were closed. FHP troopers asked drivers to slow down while going through the area or to use an alternate route.

What is not known

The report does not name the driver or the company, or say what kind of weather was present, such as rain or fog. It does not describe the truck's cargo, whether other vehicles were involved or how long the lanes stayed closed. The cause of the loss of control has not been stated, and Big Rig Daily is not drawing any conclusion about it. Truckers should check current conditions with Florida 511 or the Florida Department of Transportation before using this stretch of I-75.

Driving in wet or low-visibility weather

Truckers regularly face rain and reduced visibility on Florida highways, and construction zones add narrower lanes and shoulders. General safety advice is to reduce speed, increase following distance and avoid sudden steering or braking in wet conditions. That is general guidance and not a finding about this crash. Big Rig Daily's pre-trip inspection checklist covers tires, brakes and lights, which matter most when the weather turns.
